Choose the position deliberately
Treatment before a tank has different downstream conditions from treatment immediately before a single outlet. Confirm the duty of each stage and how the stored or distributed water will be managed. Check operating pressure, flow and access for replacement. A diagram is especially useful when an existing system has been extended in several steps.
Where should pipe-in treatment sit in the water path?
Map the incoming water through storage, pumping, treatment and the outlets served. An entry-point filter treats a shared supply, while a point-of-use filter treats water close to an individual outlet. Placement affects the service flow, access and downstream conditions. Identify each stage’s purpose and what is expected after storage or distribution before deciding on the equipment arrangement.
| Requirement | What to compare | What to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Before distribution | Review building-wide demand | Include tank and pump conditions |
| At a kitchen outlet | Review local treatment duty | Include the outlet’s flow and space |
| Before process equipment | Review equipment-specific quality | Include upstream and downstream limits |
A selection mistake to avoid
A bypass must be clearly understood in operation. Avoid a layout that unintentionally sends water around a required treatment stage.
What should be shown on a simple layout drawing?
The source, tank, pump, treatment stages, isolation points, discharge connections where required and the outlets each stage is intended to serve.
Planning the enquiry in Sabah
Discuss isolation and any proposed bypass with the installation team. A bypass should not accidentally send untreated water to an outlet requiring treatment. Ask for clear labelling and an operating explanation. Provide SWFI with the source-water details, photographs and the outlets you want served so the connection arrangement can be assessed alongside the equipment.
Information to prepare
- Water-path diagram and outlets served
- Operating flow, pressure and isolation
- Treatment stage location and maintenance access
Is pipe-in a particular filtration technology?
No. It describes the connection arrangement. The system may use different treatment stages according to the water-quality requirement.
Discuss your requirement with SWFI
Share your site location and the information listed above. SWFI can review the requirement; equipment selection, supply and service scope are subject to technical suitability and confirmation.
